sridevi''s all set to make a comeback only this time it’ll be on the small screen, as a desi avatar of lucille ball in a serial produced by sahara tv. the actress, who had taken a break from acting after her marriage to boney kapoor, says there were many offers for films as well as tv. "but this offer was irresistible," she says. "sahara is like family," she elaborates.
"and feel it’s like a home production. subroto roy (sahara head), who is a dear friend, has not compromised on professionalism. so we are more than satisfied and happy with the offer." as for husband boney, he’s upbeat about sridevi returning to acting. "since the kids have grown up," he says, "it’s the right time for her to take up good work. she was supposed to do shakti, my home production, which karisma kapoor is doing now. but she couldn’t because she was pregnant." boney has also sold sahara the satellite rights of all his films. the mood at sahara is upbeat. says chandra barot, creative consultant, "every channel was vying for sridevi, but we got her and i feel she’ll be the driving force for us. her presence will add a great value to the channel." for sridevi, the size of the screen doesn’t matter. "i’ve been acting since age 4," she says. "at the end of the day, it’s all about satisfying your creative urge."
