Special tribute to legendary Bimal Roy

<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">mumbai: fans of the legendary film director, bimal roy would be transported through a musical odyssey with old melodies from the films of the master of indian cinema at a special programme on april 14, organised in memory of the inimitable film personality. the audio-visual tribute, organised by the bimal roy committee at centre for russian culture to celebrate the bengali new year, would be conducted by a young music director, tushar bhatia, according to a release here on monday.the musical journey would begin with melodies from bimal roy''s film <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">mukti</span>, which was highly acclaimed for its exceptional photography. rare archival footage from roy''s films would also be used to illustrate the special power and appeal of the director. bhatia would speak on roy''s film music, its orignality and the important role music plays in the narrative tradition of indian cinema. there would be a special focus on two of india''s greatest composers who worked with roy viz salil chaudhury and s d burman, the release said. a special capsule shedding light on the legendary pankaj mullick and raichand boral, two maestros from the musical repertory of the 30s-40s would also be presented during the audio-visual presentation. </div> </div>
