Sooraj Pancholi believes Babil Khan deleted his emotional video under pressure: ‘He’ll make Irrfan Khan very, very proud’
In his first podcast appearance since being acquitted in a 12-year-long legal battle, Sooraj Pancholi opened up about the pressure young actors face while carrying forward the legacy of legendary parents. Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, Sooraj reflected on Babil Khan’s emotional post that was later deleted, suggesting the young actor might have been advised to take it down.
‘The pressure does get to you as an actor’
Sooraj admitted he hasn’t met Babil yet, but said he relates to what the Qala actor might be going through. “I get where that boy is coming from,” Sooraj said. While discussing how legacy can become both a blessing and a burden, he added, “People don’t realise how difficult it’s been for him. He’s made it all on his own... from what I know, he had zero support from anyone in the industry.”
Comparing Babil’s journey to that of Prateik Babbar, Sooraj said it takes immense strength to live up to iconic parents like Irrfan Khan or Smita Patil. “The pressure does get to you as an actor,” he said, adding that even top stars today are constantly navigating expectations while trying to stay true to themselves.
‘He’ll make his Baba very proud’
Addressing Babil’s emotional post that was later deleted, Sooraj remarked, “If Babil chose to post something emotional, and then deleted it—I’m sure it wasn’t because he wanted to. I’m sure someone must’ve told him to remove it.” He praised the young actor for having the courage to be vulnerable, saying he hopes Babil continues expressing himself and growing as an artist.
“He has a long, long way to go, and I’m sure he’ll make his Baba very, very proud,” Sooraj said warmly.
