Sonu Sood says he loved action in Ranbir Kapoor starrer 'Animal': 'Gore is what people enjoy these days'

Sonu Sood is making his directorial debut with the action-thriller Fateh, where he also plays the lead role. The trailer showcases intense action, including battles with masked men, which some fans compared to scenes in Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal.

In an interview with India Today Digital, Sood addressed the feedback, discussing the creative process and challenges of the action sequences. Sonu expressed admiration for the action in Animal and praised Ranbir Kapoor's performance, acknowledging his strong work in the film.




The actor further explained that they hired around 70–80 fighters for three major action sequences. In one shot, his character eliminates 70 people, leaving them with fewer fighters for the remaining sequences. To address this, they decided to cast the same fighters again, but this time with masks.

Sonu also acknowledged that people might see similarities to Animal, but explained it was a technical necessity. The fighters were brought in from Mexico and South Africa, and it wasn’t possible to replace them quickly. Using the same fighters again was the most practical solution.



He responded to the comments about the intense action, stating that audiences today enjoy such sequences. He emphasized that while gore is popular, it should be stylish, technically well-executed, and grounded in reality. The goal was to present the action in a fresh and innovative way.

Fateh follows an ex-special operations soldier, played by Sonu Sood, who infiltrates a cybercrime gang. The story uncovers dark forces that threaten many lives when a young woman gets caught in a dangerous scam. The film promises to be a thrilling drama exposing the hidden truths of the digital age.
