'Sonu Sood never misses the gym, does 100 push-ups as warm-up,' reveals Celebrity trainer Yogesh Bhateja
Sonu Sood's dedication to fitness is consistently admired by his followers. Many of his fans often pose curious questions about his workout and diet plans on social media. Recently, celebrity trainer Yogesh Bhateja opened up about Sood’s remarkable fitness routine and unwavering discipline.
Sonu Sood’s Fracture After Playing Cricket
In a podcast episode with Nitin Bajaj, Yogesh recalled how his journey with Sood began. He was watching Salman Khan’s ‘Dabangg’ on television at home when he saw Sonu on the screen. He suddenly told his brother that Sonu had the potential to develop a great physique.
Later, a friend from Mumbai offered Bhateja a chance to take over a gym slot. Sood once arrived at the gym on crutches. Bhateja said, “One day I saw him walk into the gym on crutches, and I was trying to figure out what had happened. He had actually been injured while playing in the Celebrity Cricket League, which was held in Dubai.”
The actor later discovered he had suffered multiple fractures in his leg. “He fractured his leg in seven different places… He had a platinum plate inserted, and within 15 days, he was back in the gym,” Bhateja revealed.
Sonu Sood Never Skips a Workout
Bhateja shared that the actor never skips a workout, regardless of the occasion. “He will never miss a single workout. He will train on Holi, Diwali, and New Year, and I am right there with him.”
He also spoke about the intense warm-up routine Sonu follows: “At that point, his warm-up used to comprise 100 push-ups, four sets of parallel bars and pull-ups, with 100 bent-knee leg raises.”
Sonu’s Balanced Diet Plan
However, Bhateja noticed some imbalances in muscle development due to overtraining certain areas. He then curated a number of exercises to target Sonu’s weaker muscle groups. The actor was in excellent shape when he shot for ‘R... Rajkumar’.
Bhateja also broke down the actor’s strict diet, which rarely changes. “He will start with 5–6 eggs, sweet potato, and sometimes papaya. There will be a protein shake after the workout with another 5–6 eggs. Lunch is simple and comprises dal, rice, a vegetable dish, and salad. There is another protein shake in the evening, and for dinner, there are sautéed vegetables with some more eggs,” he explained.
He further added that Sonu even confesses to him if he has had any cheat meals, such as a samosa.
