Sonam Kapoor starrer ‘Aissha’ clocked 11 years of its release on August 6 and the actress marked the occasion with several interesting memories from the film’s making. ‘Aisha’ was produced by Sonam’s sister Rhea Kapoor and established the actress as the ultimate fashionista in Bollywood. However, during a recent interaction, Sonam revealed that post the film’s release people laughed and mocked her for dressing up.
Sharing a specific incident from a party, Sonam stated that an emerging director, who is well established now, looked at her dress and commented, “Where is Sonam Kapoor going in this outfit?”
Sonam Kapoor further revealed that she had become a soft target and expressed that the people she had grown up seeing had stop supporting her once she entered the industry. The ‘Neerja’ star said that the fashion industry supported her more than the film industry. Rhea and Sonam Kapoor concluded that they survived all the bullying from the film industry by standing up together and supporting each other. Directed by Rajshree Ojha, ‘Aisha’ featured an ensemble cast including Abhay Deol, Ira Dubey, Cyrus Sahukar, Amrita Puri, Anand Tiwari, Arunoday Singh and Lisa Haydon.
All through lockdown Sonam was stationed in London with her husband. While in UK, the actress wrapped the shoot of her next film, titled ‘Blind’. Directed by Shome Makhija, this thriller narrates the story of a blind police officer who is in search of a serial killer. ‘Blind’ went on floors in December 2020 in Glasgow, Scotland and the shoot was completed in 39 days in a start-to-end schedule. The film is produced by
Sujoy Ghosh, who had accompanied the team during the shoot in the Scottish city. Speaking about the film, Sujoy had previously told ETimes, “It's a challenging role but Sonam is doing it well; Shome has been working with her diligently. She has worked hard with a coach hired by us, to understand the nuances of playing blind.”
