Meanwhile, the movie clashed with two other releases at the box office. The first one is Anupam Kher's 'Tanvi The Great,' while the other is Kussh S Sinha's 'Nikita Roy.' Both films didn't pull the audience to theatres. and hence, the box office numbers are low.Now, in a recent interview, director Kussh S Sinha opened up about why his film failed and blamed 'Saiyaara' for the same.

In an interview with Dainik Bhaskar, Kussh Sinha, who has directed the film 'Nikita Roy,' shared why it didn't work. When he was questioned about the underperformance of the movie, he shared with the publication that his father, Shatrughan Sinha, told him not to lose hope. The filmmaker, indirectly, blamed 'Saiyaara' for not getting enough screens. He said, "We tried to get more screens, but sometimes, some films are swept along by a wave."

The director also shared that theatre chains recognised the potential in his movie and chose to hold onto it. He went on to say that three movies were released on the same day at the theatres; one turned out to be a blockbuster, and the other "lost theatres."

On the other hand, Kussh also congratulated the 'Saiyaara' team for the success at the box office. However, he didn't name the movie during the conversation. He said, "Nobody anticipated this wave, and box office results aren’t in our hands. I’m happy that a romantic film starring two newcomers has done so well," adding, "I want to congratulate them."

Sinha expressed that the stakeholders of his movie could have worked more forcefully to promote the film. He shared, "The best thing is that it is an entirely original film; we haven’t plagiarised content from anywhere."When he was told about reports of Mohit Suri's film being inspired by another movie and allegations of plagiarism, Kush said, "It’s up to them to clear their names. But I’ve always been clear that I want to tell original stories, and if I ever do a remake, it will be an official remake."
