Sohum Shah took to social media to post never-before-seen images of Hastar from the film’s initial shoot. Initially, Hastar was black, lacking the red hue and womb we see in the final cut. Despite completing the entire sequence, the team felt it didn’t live up to their high expectations, leading them to reshoot the entire sequence multiple times until they were satisfied with the result.

The process of perfecting Hastar was far from easy. The team encountered numerous challenges and went through extensive testing, only to discard the original footage and start afresh. This commitment to excellence mirrors the dedication of legendary filmmakers like K. Asif, Raj Kapoor, and Kamal Amrohi. Sohum Shah himself went above and beyond, even selling personal properties to ensure the film reached completion. Despite doubts from the industry and crew, Shah remained determined, and the film's eventual success proved his dedication worthwhile.

Tumbbad was a critical hit, earning eight nominations at the 64th Filmfare Awards and winning three, including Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, and Best Sound Design. The film also made history as the first Indian movie to premiere in the Critics’ Week section of the 75th Venice International Film Festival.

Directed by Rahi Anil Barve, with Anand Gandhi as the creative director and Adesh Prasad as the co-director, Tumbbad was written by Mitesh Shah, Prasad, Barve, and Gandhi. Produced by Sohum Shah, Aanand L. Rai, Mukesh Shah, and Amita Shah, the film stars Sohum Shah, Jyoti Malshe, and Anita Date-Kelkar. Notably, Tumbbad is currently unavailable on any OTT platforms, making its re-release a special event for fans and newcomers alike.
