Soha Ali Khan reveals daughter Inaaya’s favourite subject in school
Soha Ali Khan, known not only for her work in films but also for her grounded approach to life, is a doting mum to seven-year-old Inaaya Naumi Kemmu. The actress often speaks about the joys and challenges of raising a child in the public eye and her recent chat was no different. Opening up about her daughter's interests in school she stressed on the importance of child-led learning.
‘My daughter’s favourite subject is art’
Soha revealed that her daughter enjoys art class not just because it's fun, but because it helps her relax and explore without pressure. In a chat with News18 Showsha, she said, “My daughter’s favourite subject is art. She tells me that she is able to relax and chill, but she doesn’t realise how much she’s learning."
Soha believes that education should be more about discovery than pressure. She continued, “People now understand that rote learning isn’t the necessary way to learn. The idea is to benefit from learning. Education is meant to take out from within yourself what already exists. You’ve something that makes you unique like a skill, an art or a talent."
Let kids learn through play
As someone who studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science, Soha has a deep appreciation for education. However, she’s clear that one size doesn’t fit all when it comes to learning. “It’s up to your schools and home to help you identify and hone that. If a subject isn’t for you, you can focus on something else. You don’t have to feel inadequate,” she explained.
On paparazzi maintaining respectful boundaries
Soha also touched on the sensitive topic of paparazzi culture and how celebrities are trying to protect their children from too much media attention. Recently, actors Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt requested the media not to photograph their daughter Raha’s face—and Soha completely understands that move. "If parents request the media not to click pictures of their children, they don’t. That respect exists here. In Hollywood, perhaps, it doesn’t. We’ve thankfully not gone to that stage yet," she said.
