Smita Patil inspires Mahie

Character actor Mahie Gill, who has proved that she is no mug at acting with films like Dev.D and Gulal where she essayed a character with dollops of spunk and sensuousness, has now turned to Smita Patil for inspiration to tackle the character she is playing in her forthcoming film.
A Tigmanshu Dhulia movie will see Mahie play a rebellious runner's wife and her character is that of a devoted and naive village girl.
To prepare for this role she looked at the works of late Smita as she feels no one has been able to portray the simplicity and raw appeal of a rural woman like she has.
