Sivan to direct Malkovich?

Santosh Sivan (TOI photo)During his recent visit to the US to promote his film Before the Rains, Santosh met up with the legendary stage and film actor John Malkovich.
The meeting could very well turn out to be the biggest turning point in Santosh���s career. Malkovich, who has been an ardent fan of Santosh���s work ever since he saw The Terrorist, has now asked Santosh to direct a big screen version of Nobel Prize winning author, JM Coetzee���s 1980 masterpiece, Waiting for the Barbarians.
Malkovich, best known for his startling portrayal of himself in Being John Malkovich and other award-wining portrays in Dangerous Liaisons and Heart of Darkness, is apparently interested in producing and playing the lead in the film. He has asked Santosh to direct the film. Reticent as ever, Santosh, who is back in Chennai after a long spell in the US promoting Before the Rains, admits he���s indeed up for this super prestigious offer.
