Madhushree Bhattacharya revealed to O2 India that A. R. Rahman is renowned for impromptu requests for song recordings. She received word that the film's shoot was slated for the following day, demanding an immediate recording of the song. Despite presuming that the song would be allocated to Alka Yagnik, who traditionally handled all film songs, Madhushree remained prepared for Rahman's sudden calls. The song, a intricate 7-8 minute composition featuring three distinct ragas, posed a formidable and demanding task.

The high-pressure recording session took place in a hotel room, with the singer finding herself in the midst of 20-25 individuals. Seated across from her were Shah Rukh Khan, Javed Akhtar, the lyricist, filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, and their accompanying team. The atmosphere was charged with tension, particularly when she faltered over the word "Bipata," drawing disapproval from Javed Akhtar.

Sensing her apprehension, Rahman called for a break and tactfully swiveled her chair to shield her from the watchful eyes. This strategic maneuver proved to be a game-changer, allowing her to master the intricate song without the added pressure of a visible audience. Madhushree lso admitted to harboring doubts about whether her rendition would make it to the film's final version. Rahman had reassured her that he would summon her for the final dubbing, but that awaited call never materialized. Nevertheless, she received an invitation to the film's music launch event. It was at this moment that she realized her hotel room recording of the song had been retained for the final cut.
