Simi Garewal popularly known for chat show ‘Rendezvous with Simi Garewal’, lost her cousin Pamela Chopra yesterday on April 20. Simi and late Pam Chopra, Yash Chopra's wife were maternal cousins and and grew up together. In fact, Simi’s mother used to treat Pamela as her third daughter. It was Pamela who had taught Simi Bharatnatyam.
In her conversation with a leading daily, Simi revealed that Pamela had accompanied her to BR Chopra’s wedding where she met Yash Chopra for the first time. She noticed how Yashji was eyeing her sister. And a few months later BR Chopra asked for Pamela’s hand in marriage for his younger brother Yash. It was Simi's mother who convinced Pamela’s father that things would be alright with the alliance.
The 'Mera Naam Joker' actress also revealed that post marriage, the cousins were no longer as close as before, because Pamela had distanced herself. Simi also added that Pamela was Yashji’s muse, friend, philosopher and the guiding light for Yash Raj Films, during the initial years of their marriage. She was the pillar and the bedrock of the Chopra family and she kept them grounded and balanced.
