Shweta Tripathi celebrates Diwali with cancer patients

The actress talks about taking time out for a special cause
Shweta Tripathi celebrates Diwali with cancer patients

Actress Shweta Tripathi, known for her performances in unconventional roles in films like Masaan and Laaknon Mein Ek, spent Saturday morning last week with cancer patients. The idea was to celebrate Diwali with them a week in advance to bring cheer into their lives.
Shweta was invited to the event by an emotional support group which was started by cancer survivor Vandana Gupta.

Since the patients miss being at home during festivals like Diwali, she decided to organise a celebration exclusively for them and bring some cheer into their lives.
“Diwali is a festival of joy and I cannot express how I felt when I saw that sparkle in the eyes of those patients. Their zest for life is inspirational and it just charges you up. I feel blessed that I could make a small difference in their lives by merely spending some time with them. I had one of the best mornings in a long time that day,” says Shweta, who hopes more celebrated names could take time off and visit the organisation and the patients housed by them.
