Shruti Haasan will be seen in the upcoming action thriller 'Coolie', directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and starring Rajinikanth. The film, which boasts an impressive cast and promises intense action, has Shruti taking on a significant role. Recently, she spoke about her character and shared her experience working with some of the most prominent figures in Indian cinema, expressing excitement about being part of such a grand project.

During her chat with Sudhir Sreenivasan, Shruti conveyed how excited she is to work alongside such a remarkable group of actors. She remarked, “I have combination scenes with all the actors in 'Coolie', and I am thrilled to share screen space with such a heavy-duty star cast," emphasizing the film’s strong ensemble.

Character clarification and admiration for Rajinikanth

Earlier reports suggested that Shruti would portray Rajinikanth’s daughter, but she clarified in an earlier interview that her role is actually the daughter of seasoned actor Sathyaraj. Reflecting on working with Rajinikanth, Shruti expressed her admiration for the superstar. She described him as a man with a “golden heart,” adding, “I was blown away on set after witnessing his positive energy." She further highlighted his iconic screen presence by comparing his expressions and dialogues to a minimalized version of dance or fight choreography, similar to seeing Bruce Lee’s movies.

Plot and cast of 'Coolie'

'Coolie' is about Deva, a former daily-wage worker with a mysterious past who comes back after many years to seek revenge for a close friend. Rajinikanth plays the main role in this film, which has action, suspense, and political themes. The movie includes a big cast with Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra Rao, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, Reba Monica John, Rachita Ram, and a special appearance by Aamir Khan. The music and background score are by Anirudh Ravichander. The film will be released on August 14, 2025.
