Sankranti Special! Shreyas Talpade: My father taught me to fly kites

Shreyas Talpade is immersed in the festive fervour. On Makar Sankranti, the actor reminisces about his childhood days of flying kites and his annual Sankranti rituals. “My father enjoyed flying kites and collecting unique ones. He taught me to fly kites and there was no way I could match up to him. Hum bachpan mein pech ladate thay aur agar kisi ki patang kat jaye, toh woh patang ko apne patang ke saath kaise connect karke lana hai woh bhi aata tha. We lived in a joint family, so all the cousins would go on the terrace and fly kites all day on Makar Sankranti,” he says.

Talking about how he celebrates the festival, he shares, “Every year, my childhood friends and I try to meet in our old building to fly kites on this day. Everyone comes with their families, so it’s like a big party with good food and kite flying.”



Shreyas also has some fond memories of the kite flying activity from Gujarat. He shared, “We have some relatives staying in Baroda and have some fond memories from there as dad used to travel there for Sankranti to fly kites. That city is considered one of the hubs of kite flying on Sankranti.”
