Looks like Bollywood is soon going to have another detective in Feluda, a character immortalized by Satyajit Ray in Bengali fiction. And the filmmaker who can make this a reality is none other than Shoojit Sircar, who owes his craft of filmmaking to Ray whose classic films like 'Pather Panchali' (1955) and 'Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne' (1969) had a great impact on him when he was planning to turn a director. The director was quoted as saying that he is planning to remake the famous Bengali detective

'Sonar Kella'

which Ray made in the early seventies. The movie went on to win four national awards in 1975 including that of best director for Ray. According to Shoojit, he had been mulling over the idea of making Feluda in Hindi for a long time. He is trying his best to acquire the rights of the movie.

Since Feluda has all the trappings of a franchise formula, Shoojit feels that if the movie is made in Hindi, it can appeal to a national level audience. Shoojit also feels that without technical support, Ray attained much more even 50 years ago than we do today.
