Shershaah: Five reasons to watch the Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani-starrer war drama

Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani-starrer ‘Shershaah’ is scheduled for a release on OTT tomorrow. The team has been extensively promoting the war drama, which is based on the life of Captain Vikram Batra, who was honoured with a Param Vir Chakra. He was a legendary Indian soldier who was martyred at the 1991 Kargil war and his inspirational story will be immortalised on the silver screen by Sidharth Malhotra. Here’s taking a look at five reasons why ‘Shershaah’ is a must watch!

2/6

Real life story

Captain Vikram Batra had dedicated his life to serve the nation and the same has been captured in the narrative of ‘Shershaah’. From undergoing tough training to be a soldier to bringing to life his heroics on the battlefield – Sidharth is all set to document Captain Vikram Batra’s journey to victory. Interestingly, Captain Batra’s family was keen that Sidharth play the role of Vikram in the biopic, as he reminded them of their son.

3/6

War drama shot in real locations

‘Shershaah’ is not just a regular war drama but one that has been captured in real locations. The team travelled to Kargil to shoot for the movie in remote areas. Speaking about shoot in Kargil, Sidharth had previously shared, "It's a very good feeling that 'Shershaah' could be shot on that land itself. We were shooting at the place two years back so we are still very attached to the place and it was an apt one to show our audience what kind of battle was fought by our army men.” The team of ‘Shershaah’ also interacted with Captain Batra’s real life comrades to justify his story and bring in authenticity.

4/6

Sidharth and Kiara’s onscreen chemistry

For the very first time rumoured couple Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani will be seen romancing on the silver screen. While the couple has not yet admitted to their real life romance, fans are in for a treat as they will get to witness their chemistry in ‘Shershaah’. Speaking about their equation, Kiara had recently told ETimes in an interview, “As a co-star, Sidharth is extremely driven and focused. He loves to prep a lot and does a lot of readings. That’s very similar to the way I like to work on a film. So, in that sense, we got along very well. As a friend, I’d say he is one of my closest friends in the industry. I think, even as a friend, he’s full of life and always fun to be around.”

5/6

Action-packed sequences

Sidharth has gone all out to essay Captain Vikram Batra in ‘Shershaah’ and has shot for several war scenes for the film. To add a realistic touch, the makers have roped in several real-life soldiers who have been trained and made a part of the filming process. Speaking about the tough time he faced during the Kargil schedule, the actor had revealed, “We faced a lot of difficulty in doing a pretend fight so I have full respect for our force who actually fought for our safety with their life at stake. I wonder how much difficulty they had to go through while doing so."

6/6

Engaging music

The powerful narrative of ‘Shershaah’ has been backed by some good songs. The passion and dedication of a soldier is aptly captured in ‘JaiHind Ki Senaa’, which is packed with action and training scenes. Apart from this, Sidharth and Kiara’s romance and bittersweet separation is beautifully encapsulated in ‘Ranjha’ which is crooned by B Praak and Jasleen Royal. ‘Raataan Lambiyan’ is another soulful rendition, featuring several mushy flashback moments of the couple.
