Shaving grace

The anxious actor, who went completely bald on his 43rd birthday yesterday for the remake of Ghajini, urged wife Kiran Rao to cancel all elaborate celebrations for the evening. Aamir set aside three hours (precisely 7 pm-10 pm) for the ���event��� when celebrity hairstylist Avan Contractor simply sheared his head.
This left Kiran upset, as she was planning a grand birthday bash for hubby darling. A source close to Kiran informs, ���Kiran was planning a surprise party with 50 people in attendance. But Aamir was in no mood to celebrate as he was shaving off his head in the evening at his residence. He categorically asked Kiran to skip a grand party as he was not prepared for it. So they settled for a small dinner with family and close friends.���
The story goes that Kiran intended to pop the champagne and have an eight-course meal with family, friends and the entire team of Taare Zameen Par. But Aamir spoilt her plans when he got a whiff of it. The perfectionist actor is yet to come to terms with the fact that he is getting bald and naturally, a grand party was the last thing on his mind.
All that he wanted was to spend time with children Junaid and Aira, and his mother Zeenat and sisters Nikhat and Farhat. The sit-down dinner also saw Kiran���s parents and Aamir���s close friends including ad-man and lyricist Prasoon Joshi, and actor Amin Haji (he featured in Lagaan) trooping in at the actor���s apartment at Pali Hill in Bandra (West).
Yesterday morning Kiran laid out the menu after much discussion with the household cook. The spread had Aamir���s favourite dish keema pav. A source close to the actor says, ���Aamir is very fond of keema pav, but he hasn���t touched it for the last six months, as he is on a stringent diet. But he ate to his heart���s content on his birthday.��� Guests were also treated to kebabs, mutton biryani, butter chicken, dal makhni, kofta. So, Aamir just brought out the glutton in him on his birthday!
