Shatrughan Sinha reveals he hasn't watched Sholay and Deewaar till date; here's why!
'Sholay' and 'Deewaar' are one of the most loved movies we have in Bollywood. They have achieved cult status over the years. However, did you know that Shatrughan Sinha was initially approached for both the films?
Yes, you read that right! In an interview with AajTak, Shatrughan revealed that he was offered the role originally portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan in 'Sholay.' However, due to his busy schedule and inability to allocate sufficient dates for the film, he couldn't commit to the project. Reflecting on his decision, he expressed regret for not prioritizing 'Sholay' but also conveyed happiness for Amitabh Bachchan, who subsequently became a national icon after his breakthrough role in the film.
Shatrughan further lamented his decision to turn down roles in other iconic films like 'Deewaar.' He admitted to never watching these movies as a consequence of his regret. While acknowledging his mistake as a human error, he expressed happiness for Amitabh Bachchan's success in those roles. His remorse over declining these opportunities has prevented him from viewing these films to date.
Additionally, Shatrughan mentioned that Manoj Kumar also approached him for a role in 'Shor.' Despite Kumar's multiple visits to his house and his willingness to extend the shooting schedule, Shatrughan couldn't commit due to prior commitments. Expressing regret, he revealed that he hasn't watched 'Shor' either. He admitted to avoiding watching films he liked but couldn't be a part of.
'Sholay' and 'Deewaar' were crucial milestones in Amitabh Bachchan's career, propelling him to stardom and earning him the title of India's 'angry young man.'
