Shatrughan Sinha on Rishi Kapoor: Ranbir Kapoor had big shoes to fill, baao baap hota hai

It was a devastating week for the Hindi film industry, with two celebrated actors, Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor, passing away. Shatrugun Sinha, who has worked with Irrfan in 'Aan: Men At Work' and Rishi Kapoor in multiple films, including Manmohan Desai’s Naseeb, describes one as an ‘actor-star’ and the other as a ‘star-actor’. “Irrfan was a combination of struggle, determination and conviction.He made his dream come true through hard work. I watched 'Hindi Medium' and 'Angrezi Medium' and his acting will be a textbook experience for younger generation of actors,” asserts the veteran actor-politician, adding that his friend, Rishi, was the most charismatic star of Hindi cinema. “After Rajendra Kumar and Rajesh Khanna, he became the poster boy of romance with his style.”
Rishi Kapoor had revealed that it was not Shatrughan Sinha but his body double who shot the difficult dance moves in the 'Naseeb' song, 'Rang Jamake Jayenge'. Admitting that it is true, he retorts that the audience enjoyed to see him in that song.
Sinha believes Ranbir Kapoor is a worthy son of a worthy father and a brilliant actor. “But Ranbir has big shoes to fill because baap baap hota hai. One can’t compare the two at the moment,” points out Sinha, who during the lockdown, is watching films with daughter Sonakshi and sons Luv and Khush. “We recently watched 'Parasite' and also some shows. They work out at home and the family takes walks in the balcony.”
The actor was last seen on screen in a special appearance as a lawyer in 'Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se'. “I can’t say no to Dharamji, he is a senior and an elder brother. I did that role out of respect for him. I was also supposed to make an appearance in a song, which featured the Deols with Salman Khan and Sonakshi. Unfortunately, I was in London and couldn't be a part of the song,” he rues, adding that there are a lot of film offers. “I will take a call once normalcy returns.”
