Veteran filmmaker and producer Suresh Jindal passed away today due to prolonged illness. He was critically ill and was undergoing treatment in a New Delhi hospital for more than a month. He was 80 years and will be cremated tomorrow around 2 pm at the Lodhi Crematorium in Delhi.

Known for producing films like Rajnigandha, Katha and Satyajit Ray’s Shatranj Ke Khilari, Suresh played a big role in redefining parallel cinema in India. He authored the book, My Adventures With Satyajit Ray: The Making Of Shatranj Ke Khilari, which detailed his association with Ray and how Jindal, then a rookie producer, managed to have an unlikely collaboration with the master filmmaker.

His family sent out an official statement regarding his death. The statement read, “In our hearts forever and always…Suresh Jindal. With deep sorrow we inform you about the demise of Mr Suresh Jindal who left for his heavenly abode on 24.11.2022. The cremation will be taking place at the Lodhi crematorium, 2 pm”.
