Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s niece Sharmin Segal turns off the comments section as she receives 'nepotism' and hate comments for 'Heeramandi'

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s web series ‘Heeramandi’ featuring Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Shekhar Suman, and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead roles has become the talk of the town. The web series also has Sharmin Segal in a crucial role. Sharmin, the daughter of Bella Bhansali Segal and Deepak Segal, is the niece of filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

A section of netizens have now alleged that Sharmin Segal got the role only because of her connection with SLB. Her performance in ‘Heeramandi’ is also receiving criticism. Therefore, the actress has now turned off comments to shield herself from the hateful comments. In a comment under the editorial shoot Sharmin Segal did for 'Heeramandi', a user wrote, "Very bad acting, ruined all episodes. I am sorry." Another Instagram user said, "Why were you smiling in the whole series? You single-handedly ruined the joy of watching the series." A social media user said, "Nepotism got her this role; she's so wooden!" "Literally everyone else fits in casting wise except for you," another said.

Sharmin Segal has recently dropped a photo with Sanjay Leela Bhansali at the Los Angeles premiere of Heeramandi. However, following the hate comments, she turned off the comments for the post.


It is worth noting that Sharmin Segal made her acting debut in 2019 with ‘Malaal’, which was backed by Bhansali’s production banner. She has also worked as an assistant with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in films like ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela’, ‘Bajirao Mastani', and ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’.
