Shahid Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Vivek Oberoi: Bollywood celebs who opted for arranged marriage

Most of the expectations that fans have from Bollywood celebrities are quite filmy. They expect them to date, fall in love and have a dreamy, fairytale wedding. While most of them have done just that in their real lives, others have gone the traditional way and opted for an arranged marriage. From Shahid Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit to Vivek Oberoi, here we take a look at celebs who had an arranged marriage.

When we talk about the traditional arranged marriage, the top name that pops up in our minds is of Shahid Kapoor. The actor broke millions of hearts after he got hitched to a simple young girl named Mira Rajput in 2015. The couple got married in an intimate wedding in Gurgaon followed by a grand wedding reception in Mumbai. Recalling their first meeting, Shahid had revealed that Mira and he were sitting in a room on two big sofas without nobody else around. While they wondered if they would even last for 15 minutes together, they ended up talking to each other for seven hours straight. Today, the couple is doting parents to two kids, Misha and Zain.

Vivek Oberoi got married to Priyanka Alva in 2010. Reportedly, the Oberois and Alvas were family friends for years and the couple met in an arranged marriage set up. According to reports, it just took Vivek and Priyanka 20 minutes to fall in love with each other. Today, they are parents to two kids, Vivaan Veer and Ameyaa Nirvana.

Madhuri Dixit, who is rightly known as the 'Dhak Dhak' girl of Bollywood, shocked one and all after she decided to tie the knot with Dr Shriram Nene in 1999. The actress decided to get married at the peak of her acting career in Bollywood and it came as a major shock to all her fans. Today, she is happily married for years with two kids - Arin and Ryan.

Although Nikitiin and Kratika belong to the entertainment industry. However, Nikitin's father Pankaj Dheer had a major role to play in their love story. When Nikitin’s father met Kratika for the first time during an audition for a short film, he had an instant liking for her. He even went on to say that he would love her to be his daughter-in-law. Nikitin and Kratika did end up falling in love with each other and got married in 2014.

Neil surprised one and all after he announced his wedding with Rukmini. The two got married in 2017 in a grand destination wedding in Udaipur. In a throwback interview with Bombay Times, Neil revealed, Even I thought I will find someone on my own. But the most beautiful thing about an arranged marriage is, love is inevitable if you find the right girl. I have been hoping to find someone for the last two-three years; even mom and dad have been talking about it for so long. Suddenly, on the first day of Ganpati, a common family friend mentioned Rukmini. I was supposed to fly to Sri Lanka for a show and was not even serious about it. But my father insisted that I meet her. And when I met her, I knew that she was the one."
