'Shah Rukh Khan said he needs my support': 'Gupt' producer on giving away 'Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela' song for Aryan Khan's show
The cult song 'Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela' from Bobby Deol's 'Gupt' was revived in Aryan Khan's directorial debut show, 'The Ba***ds of Bollywood'. And recently, the director-producer of the movie, Rajiv Rai, shared why he allowed the song to be incorporated in the show and didn't charge anything for it. Here's what the filmmaker has to say.
The producer added that he usually doesn't give out his songs. He said, "Sometimes people just go straight to the music company and take the soundtrack from them, which is wrong."
Rai stated that he believes people should seek permission from the producer of the film. He shared that it was nice of SRK's team that they directly called him for the same.
During the chat, Rajiv said, "Shah Rukh Khan spoke to me directly and said, ‘This is my son's first project, and I need your support and goodwill.' I immediately thought that I won’t charge any money for this, and I won’t even bring up the money aspect. He even offered it to me, but I didn't."
Calling SRK a "dignified" and "respected" man in the film industry, he recounted telling the superstar, "I said I will give whatever you need."
The producer revealed that SRK's manager, Pooja Dadlani, called him multiple times, and in every call, the actor would take over. Rajiv Rai then shared that he told Khan not to worry about the song, as he will be letting the team use it for the project.
Rai recalled telling the actor, "I will not change my mind. I trust you very much. This is your son’s first project, and I would like to support it in whatever way I can. I am glad that you have considered my song."
Why did Rajiv Rai decide to let Aryan Khan use the 'Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela' song in the show?
In an interview with Ravi Buley on his YouTube channel, Rajiv Rai shared that he first got a call from Shah Rukh Khan's manager, Pooja Dadlani. As per the filmmaker, she told him that SRK's production house is interested in the song.
