October belongs to Australia. The Parramasala Contemporary Arts festival held over the Labour Day weekend of October 4 to 7, will see the likes of Raghu Dixit and Shah Rukh Khan perform on the opening and closing days respectively. Among the other top acts slotted for the festival, we were particularly intrigued by the one titled Fearless Nadia, which is an ode to the original stunt woman of Bollywood.
The show will feature a screening of a restored print of the hit 1940 film Diamond Queen, with a live percussion track improvised and composed by Aneesh Pradhan. Incidentally, Raghu and his band of boys may have some competition - pop star Rihanna who has been touring Australia and New Zealand, will perform her last gig on the same day. When this diarist asked Raghu if he’d like to catch Rihanna in action or SRK, he promptly voted for the former.
