Shah Rukh Khan, Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh snubbed at Met Gala 2025 livestream? Spokesperson clarifies after fan outrage
Shah Rukh Khan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Kiara Advani marked a proud moment for India as they made their debut at the Met Gala this year, representing South Asia on the global fashion stage. While fans celebrated their presence at the event themed Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, many were left disappointed by the perceived lack of attention the stars received during Vogue’s red carpet livestream.
SRK’s debut at Met Gala met with muted reaction from red carpet hosts
On social media, several users expressed their frustration over how Diljit Dosanjh was barely visible in the livestream. Many called it “disrespectful” that the camera cut away from the Chamkila star within seconds. Similarly, the red carpet hosts, Ego Nwodim and Teyana Taylor, appeared unaware of Shah Rukh Khan’s global stardom until designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee intervened and highlighted his iconic status.
Addressing the criticism, a spokesperson clarified to The New York Times that the cutaway during Diljit’s appearance was “certainly not intentional.” They also pointed out that the hosts did acknowledge Shah Rukh as the first male Bollywood actor to walk the Met Gala red carpet.
Diljit Dosanjh voted Best Dressed despite limited screen time
SRK brought elegance to the event with a black custom ensemble by Sabyasachi, featuring a Tasmanian superfine wool coat with Japanese horn buttons, layered jewellery, and tailored trousers. His look garnered praise even from Khloe Kardashian.
Diljit Dosanjh, dressed in an ivory Prabal Gurung outfit inspired by the Maharaja of Patiala, turned heads with a cape embroidered with the map of Punjab and Gurmukhi script. His royal look earned him the title of “Best Dressed” in a Vogue poll.
While Kiara Advani’s look also made waves, fans were especially moved by the cultural representation the trio brought to the high-fashion event.
Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki in 2023, along with a cameo in Tiger 3. He will next be seen in King alongside daughter Suhana Khan and Abhishek Bachchan. Diljit, meanwhile, rode high on the success of Crew and Amar Singh Chamkila, and will soon headline Border 2.

I'm a lover of Bollywood, but very few Americans know anything about it OR the actors. I don't like to think they were snubbed, but rather that they didn't really know who they were. Even though he's the best selling actor in the world, many Americans only watch American made films and might not know who they are. The interviewers however, should have done their homework better.Read allPost comment
