Legendary Indian singer, Asha Bhosle was cremated with full state honours on Monday at a Shivaji Park Crematorium in Mumbai. Family members, friends, film personalities and politicians gathered to pay their last respects. But, Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, who shared a close bond with the star, were notably absent.
Salman and Shah Rukh skipped Asha Bhosle's funeral
As per a report on Decan Chronicle, both Shah Rukh and Salman were in Mumbai at the time of the funeral, but opted not to attend it allegedly due to “security reasons.” While no official statements were issued by either actor, the report indicates that the decision was linked to concerns over crowd management and safety at the high-profile gathering.
Salman Khan pays tribute to Asha Bhosle
While they couldn't attend the funeral, Salman paid tribute to the icon on Sunday. In a post on his X handle, Salman shared a picture of the music legend and wrote, "A huge loss for Indian music.... Heartbroken to hear about Asha ji. An irreplaceable voice, Your songs will continue to inspire generations."
Asha Bhosle's voice had also been a part of Salman's films over the years. She sang some memorable songs in his movies, including the popular 'Lucky Lips' from 'Lucky: No Time for Love' (2005). She also lent her voice to 'Hai Hai Mirchi' from 'Biwi No.1' (1999) and 'Yaara O Yaara from Jeet' (1996).

Shah Rukh Khan also paid touching tribute to the legendary singer, remembering her as "one of the pillars of Indian cinema."
In a heartfelt post on social media, SRK wrote, "It's truly sad to learn about Asha Tai's passing. Her voice has been one of the pillars of Indian cinema and will continue to resonate world over for centuries to come."
