Shabana walks out of Raj Kanwar's next
Perhaps, Shabana Azmi is not yet ready for a reconciliation with Rekha.
However, the latest is that Shabana has walked out of the film.
If sources are to be believed, Hema Malini will step into Shabana’s shoes. An insider from the unit says, “Shabana is not doing Raj’s film. She pulled out simply because of Rekha’s presence in the film. We don’t know if she was unaware that Rekha had been signed when she had said ‘yes’ to Kanwar. What else could be the reason for her sudden decision?”
The friction between Rekha and Shabana goes back a long way. Many years ago, Shabana Azmi had been openly and overtly critical of Rekha’s dialogue delivery and performances. Last month, Shabana’s husband Javed Akhtar had said in an interview that he didn’t think Rekha was a great actor. Akhtar had said, “I’ve never been a fan of Rekha. Mujhe uski performance dil mein nahin lagi.”
