Satinder Sartaaj’s hook in ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ song ‘Jaiye Sajana’ has become one of the film’s biggest musical talking points, but the singer recorded his viral portion in about 15 minutes. The track, featuring Sartaaj and Jasmine Sandlas, came together at the last minute before the film’s overseas print had to be sent. Bhushan Kumar said the response pushed T-Series to prepare an extended version for listeners.
Satinder Sartaaj recorded Jaiye Sajana quickly
According to India Today, Bhushan Kumar and Satinder Sartaaj opened up about how ‘Jaiye Sajana’ became part of ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’. Kumar said the film’s music worked because director Aditya Dhar and composer Shashwat Sachdev knew exactly how to use songs in the story.
“Music is a very important part of any film,” Kumar said, adding, “but it depends on how the director visualises it. The way Aditya Dhar and Shashwat Sachdev have placed songs in this film across action, emotion, every situation, it’s very difficult for anyone to even think like that.”
Kumar said he trusted the team’s vision. “I had full belief in Aditya and Shashwat,” he said. “When they explained the music and the vision, I knew this was something special. That’s when it became clear we should be associated with this film.”
He also said Sartaaj’s voice changed the impact of the song. “I first heard the song at the launch,” Kumar said. “And when his voice comes in, that spirituality, it’s very powerful. You can’t imagine that placement otherwise.”
'Dhurandhar 2' song gets extended version
Sartaaj said the call came on March 15, when he had a show in Ludhiana. “Someone called saying there’s one line in a big film they want me to do. Honestly, I didn’t pay much attention at first,” he recalled.
“Five minutes into the call, I got to know that Shashwat was on the call,” he said. “I told him, ‘I’m very ignorant about these things. I don’t follow much — I just write, compose, sing.’”
Sartaaj said the team had little time. “They told me the print had to go in a couple of hours because the film was releasing overseas,” he said. “So I said, okay, let’s try. In about 15 minutes, I heard the track, wrote the line, composed it, sang it, and sent it.”
He added, “I shut my studio and went for my concert. That was it.”
Kumar said, “This song, in this form, didn’t exist earlier.” He added that the song became the album’s number one track after release, leading T-Series to plan a full version. ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, starring Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, R Madhavan, Manav Gohil and Gaurav Gera, released on March 19 and has become a major worldwide blockbuster.Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the
