Sanjay and Irrfan are fans of each other...
Sanju's larger-than-life star: Irrfan
They’re as different as chalk from cheese, especially in their acting styles.
Yet Bollywood superstar Sanjay Dutt and the internationally-acclaimed Irrfan Khan share a deep bond. And, they absolutely cherish the experience of working together in AAP Entertainment Ltd and Sohail Maklai’s Knock Out that releases worldwide on October 15. The film deals with politics and the restoration of national wealth, a topic that is bound to generate headlines.
Sanju says that he accepted the film because it gave him an opportunity to work with Irrfan bhai whom he deeply admires as an actor.

“I loved the script. It offered me something new. My entire portion is challenging because it is virtually a monologue. Normally acting is about action and a counter reaction. Here it’s different,’’ says Sanju. The actor admits that the other reason why he agreed to this taut thriller is because of his personal equation with Amitabh Parekh of AAP Entertainment Ltd and producer Sohail Maklai, whom he has worked with in the past.
Irrfan also says that his primary reason for doing Knock Out is because it offered him a chance to team up with Sanju. “The script is great. It has a lot of twists and turns. My role is exceptional. And, for an actor, this is truly exciting. Besides, it gave me a chance to share screen space with Sanjay, who is this larger-than-life star,’’ says Irrfan adding, “Without revealing the suspense, I can say that the two of us have some fantastic interaction that the audience will enjoy.’’
Besides these two very interesting actors, Knock Out also has Kangna Ranaut, Gulshan Grover and Sushant Singh in stellar parts. The story and screenplay is by Mani Shankar and the pithy dialogue by Shiraz Ahmed is other highlight. With everything going as per plan, the producer says, “We are sure the film will pleasantly surprise not only the industry but even the public. The plot starts with a one-off incident on a street, but soon it galvanises the entire nation with a vibrant and positive feeling. It is a two-hour edge-of-the-seat entertainer that’ll leave you charged.’’
