After bagging two national awards with his debut film 'Lahore', Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan is now busy with his next, a sci-fi film based on a story that the director wrote while he was in third standard.
"It is my most ambitious project. I wanted to make it even before 'Lahore' happened. You won't believe it but I wrote this story while I was in third standard, but I never wrote the climax," Sanjay told PTI in an interview.

Sanjay, who brought some of the best Hollywood talent for his debut including 'Avatar' crooner Lisbeth Scott, says his new film will also have some of the best Hollywood technicians.
The 35-year-old director, whose film won the Indira Gandhi award for best debut film at the 57th national film awards and best supporting actor to Farrukh Sheikh, says that despite being a sci-fi, his film is rooted in Indian culture.
"We have so far made about nine sci-fi films in India including Satyajit Ray's incomplete 'Alien'. The problem with our films is that they are an Indianised version of Hollywood stories and that's why they don't work here.
"My film has a very Indian story but its treatment will be in Hollywood style. The canvas is huge and we will shoot it with Hollywood crew. It is the story of three different characters and is set in three different time zones. We are in the final stages of scripting," says Sanjay, who has roped in Hollywood scriptwriter Justin William for the project.

With no formal training in filmmaking, it was not easy for Sanjay to debut in Bollywood but the director says things have changed for him post the release of 'Lahore' as people are curious about his next story.
"I am not from Bollywood. It was never in my dreams even though I loved watching films. I headed to Mumbai after I thought that there was nothing new to do in life. I did lot of scriptwriting and continued working on the story of Lahore," Singh recalls.
Despite going through many rejections, Sanjay says he never compromised on the story and feels that the national-awards have reinstated his faith in his kind of cinema
