Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan, the debutant director of the critically-acclaimed Lahore, is busy working on two scripts.
One of them is a contemporary sci-fi fantasy adventure that he’d like to get rolling by the year end with some of Hollywood’s biggest technicians at the helm. He wants to shoot portions of it in NASA, Singapore and China. “I am making it the way Hollywood does and it is being made keeping in mind the sensibilities of people living in the subcontinent.

Supported with the scientific angle, the film talks about strong human relationships between four leads, brought together by destiny for a subject of national pride.
That’s all I can reveal at this stage. A couple of production houses with a vision have shown keen interest in the subject. I am glad for their patience and trust since this sci-fi film requires around 27 weeks of pre-production. I am sure the wait will be worth it.”
The second one is a period film set in the Aryans and Dravidians era. Passing through their conflicts will be a blooming love story. A set of prolific writers are already on the job. “Though there’s very little literature available on this, I should be able to take you into a whole new world,” he says. Both films seem to be set on a huge canvas and big budgets.
Isn’t there too much at stake? “The generation at the doorstep is currently thriving on crisp qualitative content dished out in their own respective regional languages by Hollywood studios. We only got to think bigger and better. My forte lies there!” concludes Sanjay.
