Sanjay Kapoor was recently spotted delivering an emotional speech at the trailer launch event of his daughter Shanaya Kapoor’s debut movie Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan. The actor, who has been in the industry for over three decades, admitted he had never felt this nervous before.
“Main pichle 30 saal se kaam kar raha hoon, but itna nervous nahi raha. Aaj main bahut nervous hoon. Usse pehle ke kuch aansoon nikal jaaye, thank you (I have been working for the last 30 years, but I have never been this nervous. Today I am very nervous. Before I shed some tears, thank you),” he said, his voice trembling with emotion.

A dream years in the making
Shanaya’s debut has been long anticipated. After several shelved projects, she finally steps into the spotlight with Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, a romantic drama based on Ruskin Bond’s short story The Eyes Have It. Directed by Santosh Singh, the film stars Shanaya as Saba, a visually impaired theatre artist, opposite Vikrant Massey, who plays a blind musician.
Maheep Kapoor’s heartfelt words
Shanaya’s mother, Maheep Kapoor, also shared a touching message on stage, saying,
“Shanaya, the love of my life, I am so excited. You are about to start a brand new chapter, a very exciting chapter in your life. And I just want to tell you, your first movie is always going to have that extra magic and that extra sparkle and that extra sweetness because it’s your first. I couldn’t have asked the universe for a better film, a better director who’s been so kind and patient. Santosh Singh, you’re the best. I couldn’t have asked for a more dashing, more dynamic actor like Vikrant Massey. I would have never in my wildest dreams thought, your producers Mansi and Varun, what they all added to this magic pot, Shanaya. And I want you to absorb it. The good, the bad, everything. I always knew, I told Dad when you saw the movie Saawariya, when you saw Sonam, I knew you had tasted blood. And ever since then, you wanted to be on the big screen. I cannot wait for the world to see my baby on the big screen. All I can say is they’re going to love you as much as I do (sic).”
