Sanjay Gupta defends Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 'Animal'; says, 'Javed Akhtar is not...'

Bollywood's ace filmmaker Sanjay Gupta, who is known for his movies like 'Kaante', 'Jazbaa', and 'Kaabil', has supported the director Sandeep Reddy Vanga for his controversial film, 'Animal'.

In a recent chat with Siddharth Kannan, Sanjay Gupta lauded Animal’s director for his conviction and said that Sandeep made a lot of people very uncomfortable and has completely disrupted the wagon. Sanjay explained that in the land of the Kamasutra and Khajuraho, people don’t talk about sex education, which is inherently hypocritical.

The filmmaker also pointed out the similarities between the sequences in 'Animal' and his film 'Zinda'. He mentioned that there are sequences in 'Animal' that they shot in 'Zinda', almost 20 years ago in 2004. The exact same sequence, with the hammer and 30 people fighting.

When asked about Javed Akhtar’s thoughts on 'Animals', Sanjay mentioned that Javed Akhtar does not accept that society has already changed. The filmmaker argued that society has changed, and blaming the film for societal issues or vice versa is not fair.

For those unaware, Javed Akhtar had called Animal “dangerous” due to scenes depicting questionable behavior at the 9th Ajanta-Ellora International Film Festival.
