Sangeeta Bijlani applies for a gun after burglary incident at her house which also involved obscene graffiti on her walls: 'I'm in need of a firearm'
Almost three months after a at her farmhouse in Maharashtra’s Pune district, actor Sangeeta Bijlani has voiced her frustration over the slow pace of the investigation, saying she no longer feels secure at the property. Bijlani recently met Sandip Singh Gill to seek updates on the probe into the incident, which occurred at her farmhouse near the Pavana dam. The actor also revealed that she has applied for a firearm licence, citing growing concerns for her safety.
The burglary, which took place in July, saw unidentified individuals break into her farmhouse, vandalise household items including a refrigerator, television sets, and furniture, and scrawl obscene graffiti on the walls. They reportedly stole ₹50,000 in cash and a TV set worth ₹7,000. The actor described the incident as both “deeply disturbing” and “traumatic.”
She said that SP Gill assured her the police would “go to the bottom of the case and nab the culprits.”
“There was a theft and housebreaking. It was scary. Luckily, I was not there. There were obscene things and graffiti written on the wall inside the house,” Bijlani said, adding that the episode has unsettled not only her but also others living in the vicinity.
Following the break-in, the actor has taken measures to ensure her own protection. “In the wake of this incident, I have sought a firearm licence from the Pune rural police. As a woman, if I go alone to the house, I think some sort of protection needs to be there. I never felt the need to have a firearm licence, but this is the first time I am feeling insecure,” she shared.
“I am in need of a firearm, and this is the first time I am feeling unsafe and a little afraid,” she added.
