Sandeep Baswana is doing a supernatural show — '
Vish Ya Amrit: Sitara
' — and he says that he is enjoying the experience immensely. “I had always stayed away from mythological, supernatural and historical genres. However, I felt that I have played regular characters for long and wanted a change. Even if such shows are not very relatable, they use maximum imagination and it works. Also, TV is not only for the urban, metro crowd. It also caters to rural India and they probably want to see mythologicals and historicals,” he says.
Sandeep’s last outing on television was '
Parvarish — Season 2
', which was almost two years ago. He shares, “I didn’t want to do just about everything that was offered to me. As an actor, I would not have been able to do justice to my characters. If you accept a bad role and continue to work even if the remuneration is not good, you will end up feeling used later.”
Talking about the changes in the TV industry, Sandeep feels that the situation is not so bright for actors. He notes, “Budgets have reduced and actors, too, cannot expect to be paid handsomely. Also, television needs more good writers.”
