Samrat Mukherjee, cousin of Rani Mukerji and Kajol, arrested in Kolkata after his car collides with motorcycle

Bengali actor Samrat Mukherjee, cousin of Rani Mukerji and Kajol, has made headlines after being arrested in Kolkata. The arrest followed an accident in the Behala area of south-western Kolkata early Tuesday morning, where his car reportedly collided with a motorcycle.

According to PTI, the motorcyclist, a 29-year-old resident of Vidyasagar Colony in Behala, was initially taken to M.R. Bangur Hospital before being transferred to SSKM Hospital for further treatment. The police stated that Mukherjee was arrested and taken for a medical examination as part of the ongoing investigation.

The motorcyclist described the incident, saying that he was returning home around 12:30 am when a car, coming from the wrong direction at high speed, hit him, causing him to lose consciousness.




Witnesses at the scene reported that Mukherjee was driving from Behala Chowrasta towards Tollygunge when he lost control of his vehicle, leading to the collision. After hitting the motorcycle, his car also crashed into a nearby house, damaging its boundary wall.



Samrat Mukherjee, a cousin to well-known Bollywood stars Kajol, Rani Mukerji, Tanisha Mukerji, and Brahmastra director Ayan Mukerji, has acted in several Hindi films, including Ram Aur Shyam, Bhai Bhai, Zanjeer, Sikandar Sadak Ka, and Hum Hai Raahi Car Ke. Additionally, Samrat has also appeared in Bengali shows like Tomake Solam, Tapeshya, and Swabhoomi.
