Samantha Ruth Prabhu: I want to back films that have soul (Exclusive)
The Family Man actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu is stepping further into her role as a storyteller — this time not just in front of the camera, but behind it too. The actor’s second production under her banner, titled Maa Inti Bangaram, has officially gone on floors, and for Samantha, the film feels like a deeply personal chapter in her evolving creative journey.
Reuniting with her Oh! Baby director Nandini Reddy, Samantha stars in the film alongside Gulshan Devaiah and Diganth. But more than the casting or the genre, it’s the emotional essence that seems to drive her. “My journey from actor to producer has been about growth with both learning and unlearning. It has been focused on wanting to shape narratives that go beyond the frame, that speak to the heart. I want to back films that have soul, stories that stem from a sense of purpose, stories that celebrate human emotion, resilience and hope, told with a cinematic flair," she reflects.
Samantha describes producing as an act of curation — a way of amplifying voices that feel authentic and lasting. “For me, producing isn’t just about making movies; it’s about curating voices, working with various kinds of talent and creating work that feels authentic and enduring while being sellable."
