Saloni Batra defends Ranbir Kapoor's college shootout scene in Animal: Sandeep Reddy Vanga knows how to reach the audience
Actress Saloni Batra, who plays Ranbir Kapoor's sister Reet in the Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial Animal, has defended the college shootout scene which has been termed as one of the problematic scenes in the film.
In the scene, Ranbir's character enters his sister's college with a gun to teach a lesson to those who were ragging her. He fires gunshots in the classroom and chases the offenders in his car with his sister seated beside him.
Speaking about it, Saloni told Bollywood Hungama that she's an artist and she is here to be a part of storytelling. She mentioned that people are loving the film and they're appreciating everything how the director has put everything together with the background score blended with the dialogues.
She also admitted that the characters are flawed but you make stories on flawed characters. These are inspirations and hence, you put them on the screen to show them to the audience to sit and enjoy in a theatre.

She praised Sandeep saying that he is legendary with his craft and filmmaking and he knows how to reach the audience. She also defended Ranbir's character saying that a person who has not gotten love from his father is going to be flawed.
"When we write stories, we always get inspired by real characters in life. Now it’s about also the audience understanding what is right and what is wrong. We can’t be sitting and preaching," she added.
On the controversial college scene, Saloni concluded by saying, "That does not happen in real life, and it should not happen. People have loved it, and how he’s devised everything in that scene. It is cinematic, and it’s for the film; it’s for the purpose of that character. So, I don’t think people should take back wrong things from it.”
