Salman Khan's 'Dabangg', Farhan Akhtar's 'Rock On!!', Aamir Khan's 'Rang De Basanti': Movies Randeep Hooda lost to other actors

Randeep Hooda was once offered a role in the critically acclaimed 'Rang De Basanti', but turned it down after Ram Gopal Varma advised against it, suggesting the part was too small for him. Siddharth eventually took on the role, while Hooda shifted his focus to auditioning for 'Ab Tak Chhappan'.

During the scripting phase, Ram Gopal Varma considered Randeep Hooda for the iconic role of Gabbar Singh. However, Hooda turned down the offer, fearing that the role would inevitably invite comparisons to the legendary performance by Amjad Khan.

Randeep Hooda's refusal to take on roles has been a bold move in his career. He turned down the part that Arjun Rampal later played in Rock On!!, widely regarded as one of the film's standout roles, and also passed on a significant role in Rang De Basanti. Despite these choices, Hooda remains unapologetic, explaining that he preferred leading roles in films like Ru-ba-ru and Rang Rasiya over ensemble casts. He’s content with the critical acclaim Rock On received but has no regrets about his decisions, even when they meant turning down substantial opportunities.

Before casting Salman Khan, director Abhinav Kashyap initially considered Randeep Hooda and Irrfan Khan for the role of Robinhood Pandey in Dabangg. However, both actors turned down the offer. When Arbaaz Khan proposed producing the film and suggested Salman Khan for the lead, Kashyap quickly agreed.

Randeep mentioned in an interview that he had turned down several offers before his Hollywood outing Extraction.

According to him, the roles in Hollywood franchise films often involved stereotypical or ridiculed portrayals of South Asians, which led him to decline those opportunities.
