Salman Khan summoned to court in pan masala case - Reports
As Salman Khan turned 60 on Saturday, he has been summoned by The Kota District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission to be present in the court in person on January 20 with relevant documents . The court has also ordered a forensic examination of the actor’s signature with regards to a pan masala advertisement
As per the report in Mid-day the summon is a result of a petition filed at the Kota Consumer Court against Salman Khan and Rajshree Pan Masala Company, alleging misleading advertising practices. The complaint claims that the advertisement promotes saffron infused cardamom which is false as saffron cannot realistically be included in a low-cost pan masala pouch. The petition also claims that such promotions mislead consumers, especially young people and encourage habits that lead to health risks.
In response Salman Khan dismissed the complaint as baseless and stated that any action , if warranted, falls under the jurisdiction of Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA). His legal team denied the complaint and stated that the advertisement is for silver-coated cardamom. On December 9th he reiterated his stance and asserted that the signatures on record are authentic and consistent with his legal documents.
The court ultimately passed the order over the authenticity concerns of Salman Khan’s signature and ordered his signature to be inspected by a state-authorised as well as recognised agency or a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).The court also instructed that Salman Khan to be personally present in the court on the next date along with advocate R.C. Choubey, who had notarised the power of attorney and submitted replies on his behalf.
Salman Khan brought in his 60th birthday with his family and friends and is now gearing up for his next big Eid release Battle of Galwan, directed by Apoorva Lakhia.
