Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt: Bollywood actors who did cameos in South movies

With more and more filmmakers opting for pan-India releases for their movies, the line between Hindi and regional cinema is fast blurring. While regional actors are making their foray into Bollywood, the Hindi actors are also dropping their inhibitions and joining forces with the South superstars. Salman Khan recently received praise for playing a cameo in Chiranjeevi’s ‘Godfather’. However, this is not the first time a Bollywood actor has made a special appearance in films down South. Here we take a look at FIVE such actors who have done a special cameo in South movies.

Bollywood’s ‘Dabangg’ star Salman Khan and Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi collaborated recently for a film titled, ‘Godfather’. The Bollywood actor played a special cameo in the movie. In an interview, Chiranjeevi also revealed that the actor did not charge a penny for the role and agreed to be a part of the film within minutes. The special appearance has been receiving praise from all quarters. Watching the ace actors share screen space was indeed a sight for the sore eyes of their fans.

Along with Ajay Devgn, SS Rajamouli also roped in Alia Bhatt for a special cameo in ‘RRR’. The actress essayed the role of Sita, fiancé of Ram Charan’s character in the movie. Although it was the shortest role of her career, she garnered praise for the portrayal of her character. The SS Rajamouli directorial received positive reviews from audience and critics alike and did some record-breaking business at the box office.

Ajay Devgn was roped in by none other than SS Rajamouli for his film, ‘RRR’. The film starred Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the lead role. Ajay essayed the role of Alluri Venkatarama Raju, father of Ram Charan’s character in the movie. His look and his role were appreciated by the audience.

Very few know that Shah Rukh Khan had played a special cameo role in Kamal Haasan starrer ‘Hey Ram’. The Bollywood superstar apparently did not even charge a penny for the role. SRK reportedly knew the budget of the movie and just wanted to be a part of it. ‘Hey Ram’ was reportedly released in Tamil and Hindi simultaneously. Interestingly, SRK has acquired the remake rights of the 2000-released film. Kamal Haasan told Mumbai Mirror that he is glad that he got the Hindi rights of ‘Hey Ram’ from Bharat Shah. According to the megastar, SRK should have some memory of the film as he gave his friendship and service to it.

Amitabh Bachchan played a special role in Chiranjeevi starrer ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’. In an old interview, the South superstar had revealed that Big B agreed to the role without any hesitation. The Bollywood megastar told him that he is doing it for their friendship. Chiranjeevi and Bachchan have apparently known each other for a long time. The film also starred Nayanthara, Tamannaah Bhatia, Vijay Sethupathi, Kiccha Sudeep, Ravi Kishan and Jagapathi Babu.
