’ and a short film, says, “I feel a different energy when I am on a set, rehearsing my scenes and mouthing dialogues. I would say it's like painting a black canvas,” he says.

He adds, “Not that I am spoilt for choice, but I am selective about my acting assignments. I don’t take up a project if the concept doesn’t resonate with me. There have been times when I have liked a project, but couldn’t be a part of it because of various reasons.”

Salim confessed that he always wanted to become an actor. Sharing his first brush with acting, he says, “I entered the industry after an audition for ‘Bollywood Diaries. When I auditioned, I wasn’t satisfied with my performance, so I wanted to give it another try. However, the team, including director K.D. Satyam, was leaving for the day and it took a lot to convince them. In the end, they agreed to audition me again and that is how my journey in showbiz started.”

He accepts that he was also fascinated with the glam and

glitter

associated with the industry. “Along with the love and admiration that the audience has for celebrities, there are other factors that attract people to enter the world of films and make a career here. These can be because of a luxurious life, good income, recognition, popularity, glamour and so on,”
