The makers of ’83 hosted a grand screening of ’83 in Mumbai today and another special screening is set to take place in Delhi. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala took off to Delhi recently where he will be showcasing the sports drama to dignitaries from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Directed by Kabir Khan,’83 narrates the story of the Indian cricket team’s journey of winning the World Cup over three decades ago. Speaking about the film, Kabir Khan had exclusively told ETimes, “You know, 83 is a big responsibility for me. I knew if I don't recreate this correctly, the country will not forgive me. Ditto for Ranveer: If he won't portray Kapil correctly, the audience will not forgive him. And as you see from the trailer, he has done it brilliantly. He worked very hard.”

Ranveer Singh in the role of former Indian captain Kapil Dev, who led the winning squad. Deepika Padukone, who is also producing the movie, will be seen essaying the part of Ranveer’s onscreen wife Romi Bhatia. Apart from Ranveer, ’83 also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Harrdy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar, Ammy Virk, Adinath Kothare, Dhairya Karwa and R Badree. The film is slated for a theatrical release on December 24.
