Saif Ali Khan to Sanjay Dutt: Mainstream Bollywood actors starring in upcoming South films

Back in time the only kind of cross collaborations between Bollywood and the South Indian film industry would be when Tamil, Telugu and Kannada movies would get remade in Hindi or when south actresses like Rekha, Hema Malini, Rambha, Kajal Agarwal, Tamanaah Bhatia and Illeana D'cruz etc made their way into Hindi films.
But thanks to Covid-19, films from south of India have taken center stage with the blockbuster success of films like RRR, Pushpa, KGF. In a clear shift of power dynamics everyone worth their weight in gold wants to give South Films a try in order to expand their horizons. Have a look at a few names who are heading down south for thier shot at box office greatness.

Amitabh Bachchan

Though language has never been an issue for Amitabh Bachchan as hes already worked in Marathi and Bhojpuri films, he's only now attempting a full fledged role in Project K with Prabhas and Deepika Padukone. The shooting of the film recently came to a standstill as he got injured while shooting an action sequence. Prior to this, the megastar had done cameos in multiple South Indian films from likes of Manam and Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy.

Deepika Padukone

Though she began her career with a Kannada film Aishwarya back in 2006, Deepika Padukone is only now making her way back to the south with Project K. The film which is planned as a pan-India film, is led by Bahubaali fame Prabhas and also stars Amitabh Bachchan.

After working in Hindi films for over 21 years, actor Arjun Rampal would be making his journey to the south to play the negative lead opposite Pawan Kalyan in Hari Hara Veera Mallu. The film is mounted on a budget of 150 to 200 crores.

6/7

Alia Bhatt-Ajay Devgn

Though Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt worked together in Gangubai Kathiwadi, the duo were also a part of SS Rajamouli big ticket film RRR. The global success of Bahubaali franchise was enough for them to cross the Vindhya range and work sign up for a Telugu film.

7/7

Sanjay Dutt

Sanjay Dutt tasted success with his portrayal of Adira in KGF: Chapter 2 and he just can't seem to get enough of it. The actor will now be seen in KD- The Devil opposite Dhruva Sarja, he also has Thalapthy Vijay’s Leo in his hand which is being directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
