Saif Ali Khan to Ranveer Singh: When Bollywood characters were compared to Hollywood

More often than we'd like to admit it, Bollywood is accused of seeking 'inspiration' from Hollywood and other film industries around the world. With the bar currently set very high for content on film and television, filmmakers and actors these days are inevitably caught red-handed if they even try to imitate or resemble characters of pop culture. Let's take a look at Bollywood characters that were compared to Hollywood's iconic characters.

2/6

Saif Ali Khan's Udaybhan Rathod - Jon Snow

When Ajay Devgn unveiled Saif Ali Khan’s avatar of Udaybhan Rathod from their period drama ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’, it has fans wondering if it was an ode to the popular TV character Jon Snow. While the trailer went on to reveal that Saif would play the antagonist, who fights against Shivaji Maharaj and his army during the battle of Sinhagad, it was not hard to see why Twitterati was drawing comparisons between the two considering the striking similarities they shared in the looks department.

3/6

Ranveer Singh's Alauddin Khilji - Khal Drogo

Ranveer Singh had the girls swooning over his dark, brawny and menacing look as Sultan Alauddin Khilji in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmaavat'. The star went on to bag all the awards that season for his portrayal of the barbaric ruler, but much before we could see this wicked and vile new side of the star, there were a few who were quick to jump to conclusions. With the Television show Game of Thrones at the height of its popularity, many though Ranveer's Khilji bore similarities with the character Khal Drogo.

4/6

Aamir Khan's Firangi Mallah - Jack Sparrow

When it comes to replicating or even minutely imitating characters that have achieved the iconic status, trust the internet to go up in arms against it. Aamir Khan learnt it the hard way when Twitterati slammed him and his movie for allegedly trying to copy the Hollywood hit films 'Pirates Of The Caribbean'. And front lining this was Aamir, whose character Firangi Mallah, that many claimed was a copy of the much-loved character Jack Sparrow.

5/6

Fatima Sana Shaikh's Zafira - Guinevere

It was another case of spotting similarities when Fatima Sana Shaikh's poster as the character Zafira was released online. This time around fans though she bore many similarities with not one by two characters. While desi fans though her character resembled Anushka Shetty's in the hit franchise 'Baahubali', others found it looking rather similar to Keira Knightley's Guinevere in the 2004 film 'King Arthur'.

6/6

Amitabh Bachchan's Khudabaksh - Captain Barbosa

Amitabh Bachchan has played many roles in his career spanning over the decades. But, when it came to him portraying the character Khudabaksh, many fans thought it bore a strange resemblance to Captain Barbosa in 'Pirates Of The Caribbean'.
