After a 70-hour manhunt led by multiple teams of Mumbai Police, Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, the man accused of stabbing actor Saif Ali Khan, was arrested in Thane during the early hours of Sunday. Following his arrest, the accused was presented at the Bandra Holiday Court, which granted police custody for five days, according to ANI.

The attack on Saif took place in the early hours of Thursday morning when the accused entered his 12th-floor apartment in the Satguru Sharan building. Saif sustained multiple stab wounds, including injuries to his neck, and was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. He was transported to the hospital in a rickshaw by a staff member, with his son Taimur accompanying him during the ordeal.
Sunday brought some relief to Saif and his family as his sons Jeh and Taimur visited him at the hospital. His mother, veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, was also seen arriving to support him. However, it will be some time before Saif is discharged from the hospital, and his recovery period will delay his return to shooting.

Saif has several projects in the pipeline, including Siddharth Anand’s Jewel Thief, co-starring Jaideep Ahlawat and Sonu Sood. He is also set to appear in Devara Part 2 alongside NTR Jr., Janhvi Kapoor, and Bobby Deol.

Reports suggest that Saif’s medical expenses have amounted to nearly Rs 36 lakh, out of which Rs 25 lakh has been approved by his insurance provider.

As Saif continues to recover, the police investigation into the attack is underway, with the accused now in custody for further interrogation.
