Ruslaan Mumtaz, who was last seen in TV show Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke and later in films like Dhaak and Jabariya Jodi, will be now seen playing the lead role in the upcoming film Sarkari Baccha. The film revolves around government jobs, and how in rural India, most parents look for a guy who is working in government jobs when it comes to marriage of their daughters. Ruslaan said, "I play the role Aditya, who does not have a government job but loves this girl Pari. However, they can't get married, because Pari's parents are looking for a boy who has a stable government job."

Ruslaan added, "The film is basically about, issues a common man has to deal with. Even in his love life, he has to fulfill certain conditions otherwise he won't be able to marry the girl of his dreams."

Ruslaan, who has been part of films and web shows, shares how the content on OTT platforms continues to be dark. He said, "I feel that the content in OTT platforms has been always dark and thrilling. Black Warrant, Pataal Lok, all these shows tell dark stories and now I find such content to stressful to watch. You don't want to watch such content and then go to sleep. I try and watch funny shows but even those are becoming repetitive. I just enjoy watching stand-up comedy shows either on social media or online. I like to watch comedy because these thriller shows are no longer entertaining for me. Makers need to start conceptualising content which is light-hearted and entertaining."
