Rusha & Blizza: Bollywood is evolving, and we’re excited to be part of that change on our own terms

After years of quietly shaping sound, community, and culture behind the scenes, electronic music duo Rusha & Blizza are stepping into their first global moment together. The duo will be performing their latest IP - Don't Me What To Play - at Raasta Bombay's music-led showcase this month. As they prepare to take their music beyond borders, the duo known for their songs like Aja Sawariya, Dilbar and Zaar Zaar speaks candidly about risk, club culture in India, Bollywood, and why creative control remains their one non-negotiable.

On making their global debut as a duo — and why now

“We’re genuinely excited about where the global electronic music ecosystem is right now, especially for glocal artists. Over the years, we consciously took our time to build our sound, our community, and our extended family across different parts of the world while staying focused on creating music. We strongly believe that it shouldn’t just be DJs touring everywhere—producers deserve to take their own music, vision, and stories to the stage too. Now that we finally have the space and momentum, it feels like the perfect moment to step out, meet the people who’ve supported us from day one, and experience the music together in real time. That connection is what this debut is really about.”

On heavy production and whether it ever distracts from the music

“We’ve never worried about that. For us, production is an extension of the music, not a distraction. Our goal is simple—to create absolute mayhem and give people a night they’ll never forget. It’s going to be raw, high-energy, and hardcore, exactly the way our fans expect it.”

On whether Indian club crowds are truly ready for risk

“Indian audiences are some of the most intelligent and curious listeners we’ve come across. Every single day people are discovering new sounds, formats, and ideas. There’s no real risk here—it’s music. That’s it. When it’s honest and powerful, people connect to it instinctively.”

On working in Bollywood and whether it feels creatively limiting

“We’re already in that space. We’ve been working on a few Bollywood projects and honestly, we’re excited about what’s coming next. By next year, when our music releases with feature films, we believe people will hear a new wave and a noticeable shift in sound. Bollywood is evolving, and we’re excited to be part of that change on our own terms.”

On mass visibility versus creative control

“Creative control is non-negotiable for us. We don’t give that away to anyone. Our responsibility is to our fans and to the vision they connect with. That’s the only expectation we’re here to fulfill, and we’ll always deliver it our way. The sound and identity that brought us here is the reason people connect with us. Letting go of that for scale or speed has never made sense to us, and it never will.”
